Bitten by the Love Bug ~ Sue B

Happy Day all!

The newest challenge here at Get Inky! Stamps is titled Birds, Bees, Flowers, Trees, Moon Above, and LOVE and is based on the Jewel Akens song. As my wedding anniversary is coming up, I took this opportunity to make my anniversary card. I used the Love Bugs (grass and ladybugs) and Whimsical Moon and Stars (heart) stamp sets. Here is my card:

The sentiment and the lady bugs were done with my Stampin' Up Black embossing powder and colored them with my Stampin' Up Markers (Pretty in Pink, Yoyo Yellow and Real Red). You can shop for Stampin' Up items HERE. The Designer Print Paper is from Kathy Davis Studios (Butterfly Promise) and the brads are from Kathy Davis' Happiness Collection. So Happy 6th Anniversary to my darling Husband. Alex. May we have many more years to celebrate. Until next time...

Terrific Tuesday's Tips and Tricks - The Kiss Method

Welcome Get Inky! fans! It's La-Vie and I'm here to share a stamping tip called the kiss method. Have you ever seen stamp companies sell solid plain rubber stamp shapes and wondered why? Have you gotten a stamp set where you needed to assemble the stamps by removing a solid piece that is supposed to be the throw away item? WAIT! Don't throw that away!! It's a crucial part of your stamp collection. Here's why...

Solid stamps can be used for many things, like coloring in a more detailed stamp in a 2 step process, or creating basic patterns like a scallop with a plain circle. They also can be used to create mirrored images and textured or patterned images using the kiss method.

To achieve this look, I used a hat stamp from the 2013 Holiday set available on Etsy. On the bottom, I stamped it out regular. To turn the hat the other way, I inked the stamp and quickly stamped it on the blank circle. In turn I stamped the circle on the cardstock and voila! the hat is facing the other way. There is an adorable snowman in the set and you could make a lovely pair in this fashion.

My next example involves using a patterned stamp on the blank circle. I inked the circle in pink ink and the random dots in white ink. When I kissed the dots to the circle, it created a textured effect. You can use any background stamps you have to create unique looks with striped polka dots...the sky is the limit. Create your own flair and embellishments to match any project.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed today's tip. For more great ideas, visit my blog.

Don't Worry, Bee Happy!

Happy Sunday! Ashley here today to share with you a quick card I made using the "Buzzing Bees" stamp set as inspiration for our current "Birds and Bees" challenge:

Both the sentiment and the bee are from the stamp set. I added some twine for the bee's "trail" and cut hexagons out of honeycomb paper, then inked those edges with Scattered Straw Distress Ink by Tim Holtz. Even though the card is super clean and simple, I really like it!

Hope to see you playing along in our current challenge!

Song Challenge 13 Inspiration: Jewel Akens The Birds and the Bees

It's my day to post inspiration to get those creative juices flowing for the latest challenge at the Get Inky! Challenge blog! The challenge is to create a craft based on the classic Jewel Akens song (Let me tell you 'bout) The Birds and the Bees.

I enjoyed creating this love scene to match the elements of the song using Get Inky! Stamps.  The bees and the heart are from the Buzzing Bees stamp set. The flower, and the word "love" are from the Love Bugs stamp set. Both are available on Etsy.

For more information, please visit my blog. I hope you create a masterpiece to enter into Challenge 13!

Gliter, A Tag, & A Cupcake.....It's a Party!

Happy Friday the 13th!

Challenge #12..Cakes, Cakes, and Cupcakes...is going on over at the challenge blog.

Here's my take on this challenge..................

I started out with a plain manila tag and inked it to coordinate with the paper I chose for my cupcake wrapper.

I stamped the background with the large heart and 'wishes' from the Sew Sweet Stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black.  I also misted the background with Perfect Pearls Mist spray.  Because I inked the tag with distress ink, the liquid mist reacted with them...I halted the reaction with my heat tool.  :-)

The cupcake (also from the stamp set) was stamped on both patterned and plain paper.  I cut the frosting out of the plain paper image, adhered some Seedless Preserves Distress Glitter, and attached it on top of the patterned paper image.

A bit of Timeless Twine, and the tag was finished.

Happy Crafting!!

It's all About the Cupcakes ~ Sue B

Greetings all:

I have to tell you that I LOVE cupcakes. All shapes, sizes and flavors. To me they are just the right size for a little sweetness. So when I learned about the cake challenge from Get Inky! Stamps, I knew I had to come up with something special. Well it had to be extra special as this was a card for someone special. I used the Sew Sweet Cupcakes stamp set and took out some paper I bought "just because". I stamped the image twice so I could layer and make it seem like frosting. Here is my card closed:

And now open:
Of course my Cameo Silhouette came in handy. The brad holding the card open is from Kathy Davis Studios Happiness set. I am looking forward to another day at KD Studios soon. I hope that you will come and join us over for the most recent challenge (Cakes, Cakes and Cupcakes). I cannot wait to see all the wonderful entries. Until next time....

More Inspiration for Challenge #12!!

Sarah here!
Can you believe it?!
This is already the 12th challenge. Crazy how fast time flies.

My inspiration today comes technically the scrap box, or what would have been in the scrap box.
I was working on some birthday invitations for a friend and had left over cupcakes that I had cut from 3 Birds Parade!
I added some glitter glue, a cute piece of paisley embossing, a piece of ribbon, my trusty Get Inky! sentiment and voila, a super cute card to show!

I might just have to go eat a cupcake now!!
You can get this stamp set, So Sweet Cupcakes HERE.
You can find the rest of the challenge information HERE.

Inspiration for the "Cakes, Cakes, and Cupcakes" Challenge #12

Hi, Get Inky! friends.  Julie here from Muddy Paws & Inky Fingers with some cupcake inspiration for you.
There's a cupcake challenge going on (Cakes, Cakes, and Cupcakes) at the Get Inky! Challenge blog, and Get Inky! Stamps sells some adorable cupcake stamps in their Etsy shop, so this should be a fun, easy one to participate in.
Last week, I left a little sneak of what I was making today on the "What'cha Workin' on Wednesday" post.  Laura Turcotte guessed it right!

I made a cupcake holder for the challenge, using my Silhouette and some Close to My Heart papers.  I stamped a cute cupcake image several times using Close To My Heart Saddle ink, fussy cut it, layered it up, used some Stickles on it to make it look like frosting, stamped and fussy cut a bow, and stamped a sentiment. All the stamped images are from the Get Inky! Sew Sweet Cupcake set. And, there's room inside the box for one delicious cupcake.
Here's a close up of the stamped images.  Yummy!

Let's see your cake and cupcake creations.  Get inky! friends and enter the challenge!

Birthday Banner Inspiration for challenge 13 "Cupcakes"

Hi, it's Ann with some inspiration for the current challenge:  Cupcakes.  I love cupcakes that don't add to my thighs and these are perfect for my diet.

Ha Ha Ha, yes because they are made of paper and ink, even the sprinkles are not edible.  I made this (over 7') banner with the Get Inky! cupcake clear stamp from the "Sew Sweet Cupcake" collection.  Still available at the ETSY store. Just click on SHOP up there.

Here is a closer look at two of the cupcakes.  Just some paper, a stamp, ink, and some glittery goodies to make this.  For the full recipe please visit my blog:  Annmakes.http://annmakes.blogspot.com.  Thanks for looking.

Sundays Sketch

Happy Labor Day Weekend!
This weekend is the OWH virtual card making party,
and I am playing along.
One of the challenges is to use masking tape (I used duct tape) to create a background for your card. In doing so, I came up with this sketch for you...

And to help you get your craft on, here is my take on this sketch:

It took a few tries to get an image I liked but once I started putting this together, I loved it! The heart is two stamps from the Get Inky 2013 Holiday Set. And right now as part of our Labor Day Celebration, you can get 40% off at our Etsy Shop when you use coupon code OWH2013VCMP40 upon checkout. The stamp sets are very versatile, you will LOVE them! Now head on over to OWH Tars and Stripes blog so you can play too!
